Tutorial #1
Notice how in the above image the "text border" has a black outline? This was done on GIMP.
Want to have an border around your text? What you need to do is: •Type the text you wish to use by using the Text Tool in the toolbox. •Right click on the “Main Text” Layer in the layers dialog •Click “Alpha to selection” •You will now see a doted line around the outer layer of your text. •Click on “select” in the toolbar •Click on “grow” in the select menu •You can pick how far you want the grow to be example: 1, 2, 3 pixels. Decide how large you want your border around your text to be. •After you pick what size hit “ok”, the doted line will now appear further from your text. •Click on the create a new layer, the new layer will be the same size as your project and transparent. •You may wish to name this layer “TextBorder” •Place this layer below the “Main Text” layer. Hide the main text layer, and other layers from view. Click on the "TextBorder" layer to be able to edit it •Fill in the selected area with whatever colour, pattern you wish with the bucket fill tool. •Make all other layers visible again. Click Select, then select none in the menu bar. *Follow along with the images below* |
Here is another really cool edit that you can do to your text. This one is a little more complex and uses different features in GIMP. That being said it would be a really neat edit to do to your text. |
