tutorial #3
In this tutorial I will be showing you how to clone an object within the same photo. I will be using this picture of storm troopers.
Once you have your image and you know what you wish to clone you can open your image in the GIMP program to begin the process.
•We will be using the “clone tool”, all you have to do is pick where you want to clone from. Before cloning adjust the scale to be as big or small as you need the size of the selection. You may also want to change the opacity this will make the clone more see through looking, and depending on your task this may be ideal to make it look more realistic. I used a 50% opacity on the shadow behind the storm trooper I cloned. For the actual storm trooper I used 100% oppacity and had a small selection size to beable to only clone what I wanted to and not any extra.
•In order to select where you want to clone, you must hover over the area and hold down on the “Ctrl” and then left click with your mouse. This will select your starting point of your cloning. Once your point is selected you can release the Ctrl key. You will see a cross: +, where your selected source is.
•The you can move you mouse to where you want to clone. To start cloning click and hold down the left mouse button. Remember after you start cloning you cannot stop holding down the left mouse button until you are done. If you do you will start a new cloning from the original source (where you clicked Ctrl).
•Continue these steps until you are happy with your finale image.

There are many uses for the clone tool and the other cloning options, here are a few examples of other tutorials that can show you how to make use of these tools. The possibilities are endless with the power of GIMP cloning!
